Children's Clothes Closet
The Children’s Clothes Closet began in 1978 as an outreach of the First United Methodist Church United Methodist Women. Annually this ministry supplies nearly 2,000 homeless and at-risk infants, children, and teens in our community with everyday clothing, school uniforms, personal care kits, and more. Please note: the Children’s Clothes Closet does not work directly with clients. For assistance, please contact your child(ren)’s school social worker to request they make a referral for services.
Volunteer Opportunities
The Children's Clothes Closet is entirely volunteer-staffed. Assistance is always welcome to process donations, including mending and washing items as needed and sorting clothing by size. Additional help is needed to fill orders, assemble health kits and deliver items to partner organizations.
Donations
Monetary donations enable us to purchase necessary items used to supplement each order. Donations of clean clothing in sizes for newborns through adults, new underwear (with unopened packaging), and travel-sized personal care items help us serve more children. Items may be brought to the Clothes Closet when open or placed in the brown bin outside our Facilities Office near the F building.
