First Things First Devotional Guide
Matthew 28:16-20 (NIV):
Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
Monday: The disciples obeyed Jesus’ command to meet him in Galilee. Reflect on how obedience to God’s call plays a role in your life. Are there areas where you are hesitant? Pray for the courage to follow him wherever He leads you.
Tuesday: It’s significant that worship and doubt can coexist. The disciples worshiped Jesus while grappling with uncertainty. Acknowledge your doubts and bring them to God in prayer. He welcomes our honesty and can strengthen our faith through our struggles.
Wednesday: Jesus declares that all authority has been given to him. Meditate on the implications of his authority in your life. How does knowing that Christ has dominion over all impact your daily decisions, fears, and ambitions?
Thursday: Jesus commands us to make disciples of all nations. Consider how you can fulfill this mission in your everyday life. It doesn’t always mean traveling far; it can start with your family, friends, or community. Ask God to open your eyes to opportunities to share the gospel.
Friday: Jesus assures us of his continual presence. Reflect on the comfort this brings in your life. In moments of loneliness or fear, remember that he is always with you. Take a moment to thank him for his abiding presence.
Take Action: Identify one person this week whom you can reach out to and share your faith with. It might be through a conversation, an invitation to church, or simply by living out your faith authentically in front of them. Write down how you plan to take this step and pray for opportunities to share the gospel.
