FUMC Memory Café
Do you have a family member experiencing memory loss due to dementia? You and your family member are invited to join us on Monday mornings at our Memory Café and enjoy social, physical and cognitive stimulation and, most importantly, fun! Living with dementia can often result in isolation, and this is a wonderful opportunity to meet other families to socialize and share support.
The Café meets weekly on Monday mornings from 10:00am to 11:30am in room 201B in C Building. The Café does not meet on church holidays. Coffee is served with no registration or charge to participate.
Facilitated by Vicky Pitner, a Certified Dementia Practitioner and Coordinator of the Memory Ministry, and with the support of our wonderful and dedicated trained volunteers, the Café is a safe and comfortable space where families can enjoy structured activities while learning strategies for maintaining quality of life and overall well-being as a family.
Activities vary, and the Café is designed to encourage meaningful engagement while addressing the social, cognitive, physical, expressive, and spiritual needs through creative arts, music, and group discussions.
You can also join our Virtual Support Group for Families and Friends on Tuesday evenings at 7:00 pm. The Zoom link is the same each week: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/89064314528.
If you would like more information about the Memory Café, Virtual Support Group, Family and Friends Workshops, or information on other services offered by the Memory Ministry, please contact Vicky Pitner at vpitner@firstumc.org.
